Millions of Hindus Celebrate Chariot Festival in India.

Hundreds of thousands of devotees thronged the Puri district of India's eastern Odisha state on July 1, 2022, to participate in the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra festival.

The annual festival consists of pulling the chariots of Hindu Lord Jagannath, his brother Lord Balabhadra, and his sister Lady Subhadra.

The festival attracts millions from across the world and commemorates the annual journey of the deities in specially made chariots to Gundicha Temple, which is 2 kilometers from the Puri Jagannath Temple.

Chariots dressed up in bright colors and adorned with flowers were pulled with thick ropes and surrounded by security and millions of devotees.

A glimpse of Lord Jagannath on the chariot is considered to be very auspicious and saints, poets and scriptures have repeatedly glorified the sanctity of the festival.
