Ukraine a 'test' for West and international order – U.
The chair of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Robert Menendez, has said that the war in Ukraine is a test for the West, as well as the strength of the established international order in the world.
He stated this in an interview with NBC News on Sunday, Ukrinform reports.
"Ukraine is a test for the west, it's a test for international order. Can one country — this case Russia under [President Vladimir] Putin — erase the borders of Europe [or] change a country by force?" Menendez said.
He stressed that the United States is not fighting a "proxy war" with Russia, as claimed by the Kremlin.
A delegation of the U.S. Congress headed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, visited Ukraine on Sunday. She held meetings in Kyiv with the state leadership of Ukraine.
