Mother of Ukrainian Halyna Hutchins, accidentally killed by Alec Baldwin during the shooting of Rust movie, cries through the entire interview during the trial over the armorer.

Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the armorer of the film Rust, who was found guilty of the unintentional murder of Ukrainian cameraman Halyna Hutchins in March 2024, was sentenced to 18 months in prison. The 27-year-old American cried after hearing the verdict. Judge Mary Marlow Sommer read the statement aloud, chiding her for her apparent lack of remorse.

Judge Sommer sided with prosecutors in imposing the full recommended sentence on Gutierrez Reed after it was noted that she called the jury "idiots." She also continued to blame Baldwin and other team members.

The court also showed video interviews with Hutchins' mother and her younger sister. "They recorded these interviews despite the fact that they live in Ukraine, in Kyiv, where they suffer from bombings every day," the prosecutor said.

Halyna's mother, Olha Solovei, could not hold back her tears as she spoke of the loss. According to her, her daughter was a bright and diligent person who loved her job. "The day she died destroyed my whole life," the Ukrainian woman emphasized.

She talked about how Matt, Hutchins' husband, called to tell her that she had died, "Time is not helping. Two and a half years have passed, and it's getting worse. For the first year, I was waiting for her to come." The mother of the deceased noted that she does not care what sentence the perpetrators of the crime will receive because it will not bring her daughter back. However, she still wants justice.

Olha said that not a single member of the film crew involved in the tragedy came to Halyna's funeral. "I really wanted someone to come up to me, to apologize, to look me straight in the eye. Maybe it would have made it easier for me," Olha says. "I didn't see anyone but my friends [at the funeral]."

Svitlana Zenko, the younger sister of the deceased, says that Halyna was not just her friend. Hutchins was like a mother to her as she was 7 years older. The Ukrainian woman regrets that the deceased will never see her nephew, who was born after her death.

Svitlana shares her childhood memories: her sister was an inspiration to her, radiating generosity, dedication and hard work. "She was an example for me, and in terms of upbringing, she gave me even more than my mother," Zenko said. The Ukrainian woman dreamed that they would get together as a family for the holidays. However, "I realized that this will never happen again," Svitlana says with tears in her eyes.
