Some 1,172 new cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 were reported in Ukraine in the past day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 71,056 as of the morning of August 1.

The death toll is 1,709, including 16 fatalities in the past 24 hours, according to the interactive map by Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council.

As many as 39,308 patients, including 556 in the past day, have already recovered.

Over the past day, most COVID-19 cases were recorded in Lviv region (145), Ivano-Frankivsk region (123), Odesa region (101), and the capital city of Kyiv (101).

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine on July 31 reported 1,090 new COVID-19 cases.
