BERNARDO SILVA is set to face questions over a tweet sent in reference to Manchester City team-mate Benjamin Mendy.
The Football Association want to understand the nature of a post on Sunday that compared the left-back to a Spanish confectionery mascot.
Silva posted an image, thought to be of Mendy as a child, alongside the unflattering logo of brand Conguitos.
Captioned “Guess who?”, the tweet was later deleted amid questions over whether it was racist.
The Portuguese midfielder drew further criticism when later tweeting: “Can’t even joke with a friend these days... You guys…”
That message remains online as the FA begin their enquiries, as reported by The Guardian.
Mendy, meanwhile, appeared to enjoy the tweet and responded with smiley emojis and the message: “1-0 for you will see.”
The former Monaco duo both joined City in 2017 and are said to be good friends off the pitch.
