PM Shmyhal discusses strengthening sanctions against Russia with Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian parliamentarians.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has discussed the need to strengthen sanctions against the Russian aggressor with Speaker of the Parliament of Estonia Jüri Ratas, Speaker of the Parliament of Latvia Ināra Mūrniece, and Speaker of the Parliament of Lithuania Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen.
"Russia must be held accountable for war crimes: shelling peaceful cities, killing civilians, creating a humanitarian disaster. I discussed the need to strengthen sanctions against the aggressor with the speakers of the parliaments of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania," Shmyhal posted on Telegram.
According to the Prime Minister, he raised the issue of cutting all Russian banks off from SWIFT, freezing Russia's bank and correspondent accounts in civilized countries, putting the Russian Federation on FATF blacklist, imposing embargo on trade in Russian raw materials (oil, gas, metals), closing ports of EU Member States to the aggressor's vessels.
"Russia must be deprived of the opportunity to finance the war," Shmyhal stressed.
As reported, on March 24, Shmyhal called on Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania to join the reconstruction of Ukraine.
