Drone video shows anti-Kremlin group apparently destroying Russian military equipment in Belgorod.
Drone video released on Thursday (June 1) by an anti-Kremlin group claimed to show Russian military equipment being destroyed in Russia's Belgorod region.
The video was released by the Freedom of Russia Legion, which says it was formed in the spring of 2022 "out of the wish of Russians to fight in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against Putin's armed gang".
It says it cooperates with the Ukrainian armed forces, operates under Ukrainian command and says it has been fighting in eastern Ukraine.
Reuters was able to confirm the locations by buildings, the shape of fields, tree lines, terrain and road layout seen in the videos which matched satellite and file imagery of the area. Reuters was not able to independently verify when the videos were filmed.
The war has killed tens of thousands of people, uprooted millions, shattered Ukrainian cities, and brought increasing attacks on Russian soil.
