HS2 extension needs go-ahead, says West Yorkshire mayor.
West Yorkshire mayor Tracy Brabin has welcomed the cash announced by the Chancellor Rishi Sunak for northern transport, but argued it was "only one part of the jigsaw".
She stressed the importance of the HS2 extension to the region.
It follows speculation that the eastern leg of the high-speed rail network to Sheffield and Leeds would be cancelled.
She told Trevor Philips: "We absolutely need to know that's going ahead. We can't have a watered down version of our transport network."
