The UK economy reduced in size by 0.3% in April, with services, manufacturing and construction taking a hit according to data from the Office of National Statistics.
The ONS had been expected by economists to confirm a slight rise in gross domestic product (GDP) for the month of 0.1% following a small decline in March.
