Protests in Guatemala turned violent on Saturday when part of the country's Congress was set on fire and protesters stormed the building.
The fire, which according to local media had been set by protesters throwing flaming objects, could be seen rising from a window of the Congress building.
Hundreds of protesters also gathered in front of the country's National Palace in a demonstration to urge the government to reject the planned 2021 national budget.
On Monday Guatemala's president cautioned that his country and the rest of Central America would need help from rich countries as the region reels from two recent hurricanes.
