La Palma Volcano Continues to Spew Lava

A volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma continued to spew lava and smoke, Thursday, September 30, as an evacuation zone remained in place.

Lava has engulfed at least 656 buildings on its way to the Atlantic Ocean.

The Spanish government is working to house those who have lost their dwellings.

Authorities established a security perimeter of more than 3 kilometers and asked residents in the wider area to remain indoors to avoid breathing in any harmful gases. (AP)
