House Democratic leader does not rule out sending troops to Ukraine.

Hakeem Jeffries, the leader of the Democrats and minority in the U.S. House of Representatives, blamed the "pro-Putin faction" within the Republican Party for the delay in helping Ukraine fight Russia. Washington, however, must continue to support Kyiv to prevent a wider war in the region.

Otherwise, he believes, the Americans will have to intervene in the struggle not only with money but also with troops. The politician expressed this opinion in an interview with CBC News.

"We can't let Ukraine fall, because if it does, there's a good chance that America will have to get involved in the conflict - not just with our money, but with our troops," Jeffries said.

In his opinion, Russian dictator Putin "seeks to recreate the Soviet Union," so he will continue to threaten NATO allies. He reminded that the Russian president's plans did not stop with the invasion of neighboring Georgia, as well as the annexation of Crimea and the war in eastern Ukraine.

"Are we to believe that in the face of such consistent aggression, if we allow Putin to succeed in Ukraine, he will stop there? Of course not," the Democrat emphasized.

He believes that the so-called pro-Putin faction in the Republican Party, among other things, influenced the delay in the adoption of a large aid package worth $61 billion to Ukraine. According to him, it "does not want to support Ukraine and for some reason believes that Russia is not an enemy of the United States."

CBC News journalists noted that the Democrat is not alone in this assessment. In the past, House Republican Michael McCaul and his colleague Mike Turner have admitted that "Russian propaganda has infiltrated their party." It is known that Taylor Greene is the head of the party's support for Russia.

It is noted that in the Senate, 15 Republicans voted against the bill, which included an increase in aid to Ukraine. Some explained this by saying that the country already lacks the soldiers and military power to win, so American support is not enough to change this.

Jeffries responded to these claims by pointing to the ability of the Ukrainian Defense Forces to deter Russian troops for more than two years.

"This is a strategic success by any definition. And that's why those who want to convince the American people that Ukraine's efforts have failed are promoting Putin's propaganda, because the facts are the opposite. So, it is important for us to finish the job. This is a Churchill or Chamberlain moment," Jeffries said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the day before, the Italian newspaper La Repubblica wrote about the "red lines" through which NATO can directly intervene in the war in Ukraine. The journalists emphasized that they are extremely confidential, but are being considered, and whether they will be applied depends on the actions of the Russian Federation.
