Judge Kovalchuk, who suspended Rivne Mayor Tretiak, bought Mercedes month later.
Rivne Court of Appeal judge Nadiia Kovalchuk, who rejected Rivne Mayor Oleksandr Tretiak’s appeal against his one-year suspension from office, subsequently bought a business class car.
According to Censor.NET, with reference to RivneNews, this is evidenced by her declaration.
On 25 August 2023, the Rivne Court of Appeal rejected the appeal of Rivne Mayor Oleksandr Tretiak against his suspension from office for a year. The mayor was appealing against a city court decision that sentenced him to a fine for what the NACP alleges is a corruption offense.
The decision was made by judge Nadiia Kovalchuk.
According to the data provided in the declaration, in October 2023, Kovalchuk purchased a 2016 MERSEDES-BENZ E 220 CDI business class car worth UAH 740 thousand (over $18 thousand).
The judge owns two other cars - a KIA Sportage SUV and a CITROEN BERLINGO.
In her declaration, Kovalchuk also indicated that she has almost $150,000, including $65,000 in cash and another $78,535 in the judge's bank accounts.
Kovalchuk also has slightly more than half a million hryvnias in her bank accounts.
