Drone strikes Zaporizhzhia NPP again - IAEA

On Thursday 18 April, the training centre of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was once again attacked by a drone.

This was announced by Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrainska Pravda.

According to the report, fortunately, there was no damage or loss of life.

The IAEA representatives at ZNPP heard the explosion at 10:35 a.m. local time. They were denied access to the training centre, which is located outside the perimeter of the ZNPP site, to assess the extent of the incident.

"This is the third precisely known attack on the training centre in recent times, with two other similar incidents occurring last week. The ZNPP told the IAEA team at the site that today's drone was 'neutralised' without giving any details," the statement said.

"So far, the drone strikes have not jeopardised nuclear safety at the facility. But as I told the UN Security Council a few days ago, these reckless attacks must stop immediately!" - Grossi said.

As a reminder, on 7 April, Raphael Grossi announced at least 3 direct hits to the main structures of the containment vessel of the ZNPP reactor. Later, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine said that on 9 April, Russian occupation forces once again simulated a strike on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant using drones. The DIU stressed that Ukraine was not carrying out any military actions or provocations against the plant.
