The UK has handed over a large batch of fire and rescue equipment to Ukraine.

The United Kingdom has sent the largest batch of firefighting equipment to Ukraine since 2022. A convoy of 33 vehicles, including 20 fire trucks, set out on the morning of Tuesday, April 23.

This was reported by the British newspaper The Telegraph. It is noted that the logistics were provided by the British Home Office.

It involves more than 100 volunteers from 15 fire services who donated equipment, as well as the Fire Aid organization.

"33 vehicles, including 20 fire trucks – the largest convoy of its kind to date – left Kent on Tuesday morning, carrying more than 2,800 pieces of equipment such as ladders, boats and breathing apparatus to the war-torn country," the article says.

Chris Philp , the UK's junior minister for crime, policing and the fire service, said the equipment is vital for Ukraine's "heroic firefighters", 91 of whom have died helping to rescue victims of war.

"Putin is deliberately targeting civilians and civilian buildings in Ukraine, which is putting unprecedented strain on the fire and rescue services that respond to these attacks. The fact that Ukrainian rescuers have been able to respond to so many incidents, while suffering significant losses of personnel and equipment, is simply impressive," he emphasized.

It is noted that since the beginning of the war, 396 fire stations and almost 1,700 fire trucks have been destroyed. Almost 350 firefighters have been wounded, and five are in captivity in Russia.

"Ukraine must win this war, and we must never waver in our support . No matter how big or small our actions are, we will do everything we can to help Ukraine achieve victory – like all civilized countries," Philp said.

As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, the UK announced the largest package of military aid to Ukraine worth 500 million pounds ($617 million). It will be used to quickly deliver the necessary ammunition, air defense systems, UAVs, and engineering support.
