«This was the final point.» The Zavalsky sisters admit why the Alibi band broke up at the peak of their popularity

Anna and Angelina Zavalsky, the soloists of one of the most famous Ukrainian music bands of their time, have admitted why they closed their project Alibi at the peak of their popularity.

In an interview with OBOZ.UA, the artists said that the personal lives of both members of the band made adjustments to their work. Because of this, the singers began to abandon some of their concert activities.

Anna and Angelina Zavalsky were one of the most popular girl groups in Ukraine in the 2000s. Their band Alibi had a large following. One day, however, the girls announced that they were going to stop their joint artistic activity. The press said that the sisters had quarreled.

"The rumors in the media about our family conflict were a great exaggeration," says Anna Zavalska. "We did not have such a radical family conversation like: "That's it! We're stopping the project!". Everything happened gradually: our personal lives made adjustments, our plans and schedules stopped synchronizing, it interfered with our work together, and we started to refuse a number of concerts and corporate events."

"There were quarrels, of course, and it's quite normal when something existing collapses and a new one hasn't appeared yet," says Angelina Zavalska. The concert dedicated to the 9th anniversary of Alibi was the final point in our joint concert activity. We dreamed of giving a concert with the symphony orchestra at the opera house on the band's anniversary, inviting our artist friends to sing with us. But, unfortunately, we did not find financial support for such a project."

The sisters admit that their parents did not take the news of the group's closure lightly: "It was not easy for our parents (the girls' father was their producer for many years - Ed.) to realize the decision to suspend our band. They are still nostalgic about our project, and they have the entire archive of the press, stage costumes, and awards at home. But looking back, we have no regrets."

For some time, the singers worked solo, and now the artists are performing together again in a group called TheAlibiSisters.
