Agent who offered to help Russian intelligence services with Zelenskyy’s assassination attempt detained in Poland.

The SSU and the Prosecutor General’s Office jointly with the Polish law enforcement exposed a Russian agent who offered the Russian special services an assassination attempt on the President of Ukraine.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU telegram channel.

"As a result of close cooperation between the Security Service, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and law enforcement agencies of Poland, a Polish citizen who collaborated with the Russian military intelligence (better known as the GRU) was detained," the statement said.

According to the investigation, the defendant's intention was to collect and transmit information to the aggressor country about the security of Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport. Among other things, this was to help Russian special services plan a possible assassination attempt on President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his stay in Poland.

It is noted that SSU officers and Ukrainian prosecutors informed their Polish colleagues about the possible assassination attempt and handed them key evidence in the case. This was done within the framework of international legal assistance.

"Thanks to successful actions and prompt exchange of information between the countries, the recruited agent of the Russian special services was identified and detained in Poland. The Polish prosecutor's office charged him with the willingness to act in favour of a foreign intelligence service, which is qualified under Article 130 § 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Poland," the SSU said.
