The perfect yeast pie dough: they turn out fluffy and golden.

Yeast dough is an ideal base for a variety of baked goods. It makes especially delicious pies. But for the dough to rise and be fluffy, you need to follow the correct kneading technique.

The idea of making a simple yeast dough for pies was published on the Instagram page of a food blogger with the nickname grennysmith.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • warm milk – 250 ml
  • sugar – 1 tbsp.
  • flour – 2 tbsp.
  • dry yeast – 2.5 tsp.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • flour – 550-580 g
  • salt – 1 tsp.
  • sugar – 50 g
  • butter at room temperature – 80 g
  • eggs – 2 pcs.

Ingredients for the filling:

  • oil – 1 tbsp.
  • onion – 1 pc.
  • garlic – 3-4 cloves.
  • minced meat – 450 g
  • white cabbage – 300 g
  • salt – to taste
  • ground black pepper – to taste
  • sugar – 1 tsp.

Method of preparation:

1. For the dough, pour dry yeast, sugar, and flour into warm milk, mix until smooth, cover the cup with a saucer, and leave for 15-20 minutes to activate the yeast and create a foamy "cap".

2. For the dough, add salt and sugar to the flour, pour in the melted butter at room temperature, break the eggs, add the dough, and knead the dough.

3. The dough should be soft and not sticky.

4. Close the lid, and put in a warm place to let the dough rise for about 1 hour.

5. For the filling, heat oil in a frying pan, add finely chopped onion and grated garlic, fry until soft.

6. Add the minced meat.

7. Fry until the meat turns white.

8. Add chopped cabbage, and simmer until tender for fifteen minutes. Season the filling with salt and pepper to taste.

9. Put the finished dough on a cutting board, divide it into 12 pieces, form balls, and be sure to cover with a towel.

10. Roll out each piece of dough into a circle the size of a small saucer, put the filling inside, and form a pie.

11. Put the finished pies seam side down on a baking sheet covered with baking paper.

12. Cover the formed pies with cling film and leave to proof for 30 minutes.

13. Bake in a preheated 180 g oven until tender.

14. Take the finished pies out of the oven and immediately brush with melted butter (this will give the dough an even creamier taste and make the pies look shiny and beautiful)
