Explosions heard in Dzhankoi: a powerful fire breaks out in the area of the military airfield.

On the night of Wednesday, April 17, explosions occurred in the city of Dzhankoy in the occupied Crimea. After that, a powerful fire broke out in the area of the military airfield.

This was reported by ASTRA. Local publics wrote that a missile threat was announced in Crimea.

Residents of Dzhankoy report that they heard and saw the effects of the "cotton", the explosions shook the houses. Some of them watched the fire in the field from the window.

Soon after, residents of Jankoi reported more explosions, while the fire in the area of the military airfield continued.

It should be noted that the 39th Helicopter Regiment of the 27th Mixed Aviation Division of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Command of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation, three aviation squadrons with Mi-8, Mi-35M, Mi-28, and Ka-52 helicopters are stationed at the military airbase near Dzhankoy. There are also helicopters of the FSB Border Guard Service stationed there.

The Crimean Wind monitoring group reported that the VIIRS/Suomi NPP satellite recorded six hotbeds of fire after the explosions. All of them are located on the territory of and near the military airfield. The occupiers reported the closure of the road from Dzhankoi to the village of Pobedne.

As reported, on April 15, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed a Russian command post on the temporarily occupied Crimea with a missile strike. There were high-ranking Russian officers at the time of the attack.
