Ukrainian consulates stop providing services to men of military age: what's going on.

Starting Tuesday, April 23, Ukrainian consulates will stop providing services to men of military age. Starting from that day, they will be able to use only one service - the preparation of documents for returning to Ukraine.

It is worth noting that this ban will remain in effect until diplomatic missions receive clarifications of the provisions of the new law on mobilization. This was reported by ZN.UA with reference to a letter from First Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga.

The document says that the Foreign Ministry ordered the heads of all diplomatic missions to temporarily suspend the provision of consular services to Ukrainian citizens of military age. The document also states that such restrictions are related to the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine in order to prevent Ukrainian citizens from avoiding the obligation to settle the issue of military registration in the Territorial centers for recruitment and social support.

However, Ukrainian consulates will only be able to provide their citizens with services related to the issuance of identity cards for returning to the territory of Ukraine. The requirements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will remain in force until clarifications are received on the procedure for applying the provisions of the new law on mobilization, which was promulgated on April 17 and will come into force in May this year.

Earlier it was reported that recruiting centers are being set up for those Ukrainians who want to join the ranks of the Defense Forces but have some doubts or have not decided where they want to find their place. 22 of them are to be established by mid-summer. There are also online platforms that deal with recruiting.

As a reminder, the electronic cabinet of persons liable for military service is to be launched in Ukraine in the coming months. It will improve the work of the Territorial centers for recruitment and social support and simplify the lives of Ukrainians.
