Ukraine is ready to take away orphans deported by Russia on border with any EU country.

Ukraine is ready to take away orphans deported by Russia on the border of the Russian Federation with any country of the European Union.

"As a representative of the Government, I officially express the readiness to take away all our orphans. For this, I propose the following mechanism. Through the mediation of international organizations – UN, ICRC, or others – we are ready to come to any European country on the border with the Russian Federation, for example, to Narva, Estonia, and take away all Ukrainian orphans who are now being held illegally by Russia," Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Ministry’s Telegram channel.

According to her, the return process is very complicated and long-lasting. Sometimes the search, all the necessary procedures, and the transfer take many months. In this way, it was already possible to take 327 children out of the territory of the Russian Federation. If the kids have parents, then they do everything necessary. Meanwhile, the state is the father and the mother of orphans and children deprived of parental care.

The Deputy Prime Minister previously expressed confidence that the Russians would definitely be tried for the forcible displacement of Ukrainian children to their territory as the Nazis were tried in Nuremberg after World War II.

As reported, on March 17, the Pre-Trial Chamber II of the International Criminal Court issued warrants of arrest for President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Russian Children's Ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. They are suspected of war crimes – illegal deportation and displacement of the population, including children, from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. All member states of the International Criminal Court are now legally bound to detain and bring Putin to trial.
