EU is ready to introduce more sanctions against Belarus - Prime Minister of Latvia Silinia.

EU leaders are ready to strengthen sanctions against Belarus in connection with the circumvention of current restrictions introduced by the EU against the Russian allies of the dictator Putin and trade in goods for the Russian military machine.

As Censor.NET informs with reference to The Guardian, this was stated by the Prime Minister of Latvia Evika Silinia.

"We are also ready to strengthen sanctions not only against Russia but also against Belarus because Belarus is being used by Russia to avoid sanctions," she said after arriving at the summit of EU leaders.

She added that there was also a discussion on how funds from frozen Russian assets should be used for the benefit of Ukraine.

"With the Baltic states and other EU member states, we continue to support Ukraine, and we want to continue to support Ukraine by looking for air defense options in addition to what has been done," Silinia said.
