Ukrainian Hollywood actress Ivanna Sakhno refused to play a Russian and canceled her contract with Netflix.

Ukrainian actress and Hollywood star Ivanna Sakhno , known for her roles in the American films Pacific Rim 2 and The Spy Who Dumped Me, refused to play a character with a Russian background in one of Netflix's projects. This decision was not cheap, but the star does not regret it.

She spoke about her position in an interview with TSN, noting that she was not allowed to disclose some details. The actress only emphasized that it is not a free pleasure to terminate a contract with stimming, so she will have to give 50% of her earnings from another series.

If an actress from Ukraine is now offered to play Russians, her team does not even consider such roles.

"It's not even a question. I'll tell you that nowadays there are fewer and fewer Russians represented in Hollywood. I had moments when I was attached to a Netflix series during COVID. It was the role of a Russian woman. It was the role of an American woman, but she had a background from the Soviet Union. At that time, it was one of my first major roles in a major Netflix series," said Ivanna Sakhno.

Filming never started due to the pandemic, but at the time, the star decided that she did not want to embody a character with a Russian past on screen, so she decided to turn down the role. Her family supported her in this.

"I had some problems. I can't officially talk about it, I still owe them money. The next job I do with Netflix, I owe them 50% of my salary," explained Ivanna Sakhno.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that in 2023, the Ukrainian actress played the role of the wife of the famous singer Hozier, who accompanies her beloved to the war. The video with her participation has garnered almost 5 million views.
