Zelenskyy addresses NATO: This year we cannot wait for decisions to be made, Ukraine needs Patriot systems, shells, long-range weapons and aircraft.

During an online meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on partners to provide Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems, one million artillery shells, long-range weapons and aircraft.

"Ukraine has asked and is asking all of you to support our actions with a sufficient number of weapons and shells, and this is a realistic request. Putin must be knocked down a peg, and our sky must become safe again, and this is realistic. And it depends entirely on your choice. It is a choice whether life is really equally valuable everywhere. It is a choice whether you treat all partners equally. It is a choice whether we are really allies," Zelenskyy addressed the NATO countries.

The President also named five areas in which Ukraine expects assistance from its partners.

"We say it directly: for defense, we need seven more Patriot systems or similar SAMs, and this is the minimum number. They can save many lives and make a real difference. You have these systems. Please provide them.

Second, we have been talking about a million artillery shells for Ukraine for a long time. They must finally be supplied to the front line.

Third, it is our long-range capability. It is absurd when partners are afraid of their strength. The more long-range weapons our soldiers have in their hands, the closer the peace. We need long-range missiles and artillery on the front line.

The fourth is aviation. If we have a coalition of fighter jets, we need a sufficient number of planes to really overcome the Russian air force. It's not about the number of promises, it's about the actual number of planes in the sky.

And the fifth is speed. This year we cannot wait for decisions to be made. I ask you to consider our request for your determination - each of its elements - as soon as possible," Zelenskyy emphasized.
