Russian strike on Chernihiv: 18 people are killed, rescue operations continue.

As of the morning of 18 April, 18 people were killed and 77 injured (including 4 children) as a result of a missile strike on Chernihiv, and 3 people were rescued from the rubble.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

"As of this morning, the death toll has risen to 18 people. Also, 77 people are currently known to be injured, including 4 children," the statement said.

Psychological assistance was also provided to 58 people.

Rescuers continue to clear the rubble. 1,580 tonnes of construction waste has been removed and 71% of the destroyed part of the building has been dismantled.

Missile attack on Chernihiv on 17 April

Russia shelled Chernihiv at around 9:00 am. The head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, said that "the enemy launched three rocket attacks almost in the centre of the city".

The Chernihiv Regional Blood Centre asks people to come and donate blood for the wounded, "especially Rh negative".

18 April is declared a day of mourning in Chernihiv for those killed in the Russian missile strikes of 17 April.
