Ukrainian Kostiuk won a thriller match against the world number three.

Ukraine's second-ranked player Marta Kostiuk has made it to the semifinals of a major tennis tournament in Stuttgart, Germany, with a prize pool of $800,000. In an incredible three-hour thriller, our compatriot defeated world number three Coco Hauff from the United States.

The rivals spent 2 hours and 49 minutes on the court, and the Ukrainian was stronger in three games – 3:6, 6:4, 7:6 (8:6). During this time, Kostiuk served one ace and converted eight of 21 break points. Marta recorded ten double faults on her serve.

After losing the first set and starting the second with her serve lost, the Ukrainian managed to get back into the match. Kostiuk took the second game, and in the third, the tennis players gave the audience a fantastic match. With the score 5:4 in her favor, Marta missed three match points and then lost the next game.

Hauff came out to serve for the final triumph, but the 21-year-old from Kyiv broke back and sent the match to a tiebreak. In it, Marta led 6-2, but allowed her opponent to play four more match points. However, after that, Kostiuk won two games and sent the American home.

Now in the semifinals, the Ukrainian will play against Czech Marketa Vondroušová. The girls have been drawn twice, but have only played once – last year Marta lost in two sets 2:6, 1:6. And just a month and a half ago, Kostiuk reached the next round of the Indian Wells tournament without a fight.
