Germany to hand over 10,000 artillery pieces from Bundeswehr arsenals to Ukraine: when will it happen?.

This was stated by Major General Christian Freuding, Head of the Situation Center for Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, in an interview with Deutsche Welle. This shipment will be the first stage of the transfer of ammunition to Ukraine.

Berlin decided that these supplies would be made in three stages. In the second stage, Germany decided to support the Czech initiative in the medium term. Germany has covered the cost of purchasing 180,000 shells, which will be delivered to the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the second half of 2024.

The third stage will involve supplying Ukraine with another 100,000 shells starting in the fourth quarter. To implement this plan, Germany has signed a bilateral agreement in addition to the Czech Republic's plan - Freuding did not specify with which country.

Speaking about what Ukraine needs most to successfully repel Russian aggression, he mentioned "artillery shells, ammunition and missiles for modern air defense systems, as well as armored combat vehicles."
