Next year, about UAH 870 million will be allocated from the defense budget for the needs of military medicine.

"Next year it is planned to allocate about UAH 870 million for the needs of the Medical Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, UAH 230 million will be allocated for the purchase of the latest equipment and medical devices,” the ArmiyaInform media outlet reports.

For comparison, about UAH 700 million was planned to be allocated for medical support of the Armed Forces this year. Additional UAH 160 million was allocated in March and April for the implementation of measures aimed at preventing the emergence and spread, localization and elimination of outbreaks of COVID-19 epidemic and pandemic. Of these, almost UAH 105 million was used to finance health care facilities, and UAH 55 million was spent on the centralized purchase of personal protective equipment and lung ventilators.

In addition, within Ukraine’s Defense Ministry budget, additional UAH 2.7 million was allocated in September for repairs and maintenance of medical equipment and utilization of medical waste.

According to ArmiyaInform, most funds were used for the purchase of medicines - UAH 592.5 million (68% of the allocated resource), much less - for the purchase of medical equipment - UAH 203.6 million (23.3% of the resource). Thus, the total spending on the medical support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to about UAH 880 million.
