US to announce new aid packages for Ukraine «in the coming weeks».
The United States is preparing to provide Ukraine with another package of military aid to combat Russia's invasion. Washington will announce the delivery of new weapons in the coming weeks.
This was stated by US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller at a briefing on Thursday, May 9. He emphasized that Washington would continue to support Ukraine militarily.
The United States will also help Kyiv bring the economy to a point where the country can stand on its own two feet.
"I can assure you that there will be more announcements in the next few weeks," Miller said.
The American official added that the issue of increasing the number of personnel in the Ukrainian Defense Forces is solely the responsibility of the state itself.
"When it comes to manpower, this is a question that Ukraine has to answer for itself. We have seen the steps of the Ukrainian government in this direction. What we can do as a partner of Ukraine is to continue to provide military support and assistance to their economy, and above all, to do everything we can to help them stand on their own two feet," Miller emphasized.
The day before, Miller said at a briefing that the United States was already preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine. He said that America wants to reach the pace of assistance that was in 2023 before the funding was interrupted.
The previous (56th tranche from August 2021) was announced by Washington on April 24, 2024.
As previously reported, the Ukrainian army has already received part of the military aid from the United States after Congress unblocked funding. The main batch of weapons from large aid packages, including from Germany and Britain, will arrive in our country within a few months.
