Israeli police clashed with protesting Palestinians in Jerusalem, Thursday, June 10, using stun grenades and skunk water.
The protesters were angry at the presence of radical Jewish politician Itamar Ben Gvir at the Demascus Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City.
Israeli police denied a request by Ben Gvir to visit the holy site known to Jews as Temple Mount and to Muslims as Haram al Sharif, fearing it would cause further unrest.
Ben Gvir is the head of the far-right Jewish Power party and has called for Israel to be governed by Jewish religious law and advocated the expulsion of Arabs and other non-Jews from Israel and the occupied territories. (AP)
