Thousands of people took to the streets in Karachi on Saturday night to celebrate the independence of Pakistan, dancing to songs, carrying flags and blowing horns.
The country achieved independence and was declared a sovereign state following the end of British rule in 1947.
Large crowds thronged makeshift stalls that were selling flags, buntings, badges, bangles, shirts, caps, wristbands and headbands.
Some buildings in the capital were illuminated and decorated for the occasion.
