UKRAINIAN President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he believes Russia is deliberately targeting oil refineries and factories to make the country dependent.
In a virtual address at an event organized by Jakarta-based think tank Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia, Volodymyr Zelensky said “I believe that Russia has deliberately made a bet on the food crisis. To increase the dependence of other countries on themselves and to make access to food another factor of pressure in global politics.”
He stated that Ukraine lost up to $5 billion and needs help from the world and the European Union to make up for its losses.
Regarding export of grain and cooking oil from Ukraine, Zelensky said Russia has cut Ukraine’s flow of exports by blocking the Black Sea.
“Currently, 22 million tons of grain in Ukraine are in storage facilities. We cannot direct them to the world market, where they are needed right now, at this time,” he said, warning that it will create a global food crisis.
