Rishi Sunak will face MPs in the Commons this morning as he prepares to announce a long list of COVID-fueled spending items in tomorrow’s mini-budget.

The chancellor has his monthly Treasury questions at 11.30 am amid growing speculation he will use tomorrow’s “Summer Economic Update” to bring forward an immediate stamp duty holiday as part of a wider spending splurge.
Last night Treasury officials previewed a £3 billion investment to make homes and public buildings more energy-efficient, with homeowners to receive cash grants of up to £5,000 each to fund insulation and heating systems.
