How dangerous are 3D-printed guns?

Online communities, mostly based in America, are sharing files and instructions on how to make 3D-printed guns. For most, it is just a hobby. But the Metropolitan Police say they're treating printed firearms as an "emerging trend" that they're actively monitoring.
