England 'to be in tier 3' by Xmas as police warn of raids on families mixing.

All of England may be in tier 3 lockdown by December according to stark warnings by government scientists.

Currently, 8 million people across the north in Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire and a few select areas in England are in the very high alert level, meaning an outbreak of coronavirus is out of control. Under tier 3 restrictions pubs and bars must close unless they operate as restaurants with table service along with the sale of alcohol, all household mixing is banned indoors and outdoors and people should avoid travelling outside of their area.

New modelling by health officials estimates this second wave of coronavirus will be more deadly than the first, and will see 25,000 people in hospital with COVID-19 by the end of November. Currently, 9,199 people are in hospital with the disease.

The death toll from coronavirus is rising in the UK rapidly, with 367 deaths recorded on Tuesday, which is the highest figure since 27th May. 22,885 cases were also reported. Scientists are warning the data is worse than first thought, meaning all areas in England are likely to be in a full tier 3 lockdown by Christmas. This would mean families would not be able to mix over the holiday season unless they already lived in the same household. A Police and Crime Commissioner warned on Tuesday the police would raid people’s homes if they break the rules over Christmas.

Meanwhile, Boris Johnson has been urged by dozens of his MPs representing northern constituencies to lay out an exit strategy for lockdown, which has seen many areas economically devastated, and a rise in suicide rates and mental health problems have also arisen.
