Residents in the Ukrainian capital are being told to gather supplies of water, food and warm clothes in case Russian airstrikes cause a total blackout.
Kyiv has been suffering from ongoing blackouts as Russia attacks Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Now mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has warned the temperature in homes could drop rapidly in the event of "a blackout and the destruction of infrastructure and a total absence of electricity, water supply, drainage and heat supply".
