Reacting to the UK recording 100,000 deaths Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said it was a “national tragedy”, adding: “We must never become numb to these numbers or treat them as just statistics.
Every death is a loved one, a friend, a neighbour, a partner or a colleague. It is an empty chair at the dinner table.”
He also hit out at the PM for the government not acting quickly enough in regards to lockdowns and border control resulting in the most coronavirus deaths in Europe.
BORIS Johnson will make a Covid statement to MPs today - after the UK passes 100,000 deaths yesterday.
The PM will speak to the House of Commons rather than Matt Hancock, who was due to give an update on the latest coronavirus situation.
