The former prime minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak, has been sentenced to twelve years in jail after being found guilty of corruption, but the judge granted a delay to the sentence. It was the first of several trials Najib faces over the looting of billions of dollars from state development fund 1MDB. The case is being seen as a test for Malaysia's efforts to stamp out corruption.
