ART lovers have been left stunned as a man disguised as an old woman leapt from a wheelchair and threw a cake at the Mona Lisa.
Footage of the incident at the Louvre shows the world-famous painting smeared with cake by an eco-vandal before he is dragged away by security guards, as stunned onlookers watch on.
Luckily, no damage was done to the masterpiece as it is protected by a bulletproof screen.
The eco-hooligan, who was in a wheelchair and dressed in a wig and lipstick, attacked the painting in a climate protest - although it is unclear why he chose the Mona Lisa as his target.
Following the cake-attack at the Louvre, in Paris, France, the perpetrator yelled: "Think about the Earth. People are in the process of destroying the Earth!
"Artists think about the Earth, that's why I did this. Think of the planet!"
Witnesses said that the man rolled past the painting in the wheelchair before jumping to his feet and launching a cake at the portrait.
The man then allegedly threw a bouquet of roses into the air before being dragged away by security guards.
Baffled onlookers took to social media to share their shock, with one tweeting: "Maybe this is just nuts to me but an man dressed as an old lady jumps out of a wheel chair and attempted to smash the bullet proof glass of the Mona Lisa.
