Syrian Rescue Workers Pull a Child from Rubble after Earthquake - VOA News.

Rescue workers pulled people trapped in the rubble of wrecked buildings, near Aleppo, Syria, Monday, February 6, 2023.

The powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake wreaked damage and suffering in Syria’s last rebel-held enclave, already affected by years of fighting and bombardment and housing millions of displaced Syrians who had fled their homes during the country’s civil war.

The earthquake toppled hundreds of buildings and killed more than 3,700 people, with more residents believed to be trapped under the rubble.

The epicenter of the pre-dawn earthquake was near Gaziantep, close to the Turkey-Syria border, and it was followed by a separate magnitude 7.5 earthquake about 100 kilometers (62 miles) north in the early afternoon.
