Multi-Story Building Collapses in Shimla, India

Multi-Story Building Collapses in Shimla, India

No one was harmed when a multi-story building collapsed in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh in India, Thursday, September 30.

Video obtained by Reuters and broadcast live on Facebook showed the multi-story building leaning dangerously before collapsing onto at least one other house.

The building was evacuated Thursday morning after cracks developed, according to local media. Sudesh Mokhta, a state disaster management official, told local media that two other two-story buildings were damaged in the collapse.

Himachal Pradesh often experiences landslides during monsoon season, which can be deadly.

More than 25 people were killed in the state's Kinnaur district in August, when boulders tumbled onto a major highway, hitting a bus and a truck.
