THE United States Congress held a public discussion about UFOs today for the first time in half a century and several "near misses" with UAPs were mentioned.
The public UFO hearing covered evidence of what the US military calls unidentified aerial phenomena, or "UAPs" before moving to a closed-door session.
It comes after a recent military report citing 11 "near misses" between UAPs and US fighter jets, and those sightings were discussed at the hearing. The report in question does not mention aliens.
Tuesday's hearing featured experts showing some video clips of UAP encounters and was expected to cover the possible origins of the unidentified objects, which move unlike anything known to science and that some people have suggested are top-secret aircraft built by foreign adversaries.
Others believe their origins are extraterrestrial.
The public hearing began at 9am ET and concluded around 10.30am. The hearing was chaired by Congressman André Carson.
