Polar Bear Hunts a Reindeer in Norway Arctic

A polar bear swims after a reindeer and attacks it in rare footage provided by AFP and taken in August 2021.

The footage, captured during the summer by a team of Polish scientists in Svalbard, the Norwegian part of the Arctic, shows a polar bear hunting a reindeer in water, then dragging it ashore and devouring it.

The dramatic footage caught for the first time on film, suggests the bears may be changing their diet because of climate change. The research team argued that the incident was one of a series of observations that suggest polar bears are increasingly preying on terrestrial animals to make up for their limited access to seals.
