Britain battered by six inches of snow as weather warning issued.
"THUNDERSNOW" is set to batter the UK bringing SIX INCHES of the white stuff from TODAY - as schools are forced to close.
Yellow weather warnings for snow and ice blanket most of Scotland, Northern England and all of Ireland - with the Met Office warning of icy roads, no public transport and power cuts.
Brits today woke up to a bracing -4C, with countless schools north of the border forced to close due to snow-covered routes making journeys impossible.
Highlands Council confirmed that Kilmuir Primary, Charleston Academy and Grantown Grammar will all be closed today.
