Home Secretary Priti Patel has announced an independent inquiry into the "failings" by the police following the murder of Sarah Everard by a serving officer.
Speaking at the Conservative party conference in Manchester Ms Patel said the public had a right to know what "systematic failures" meant Ms Everard's killer was able to work in the police.
