Torrential rain hit the port of Casamicciola Terme, one of the six small towns on the island, in the early hours of Saturday, triggering flooding and bringing down buildings.
Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said on Saturday (November 26) there were no confirmed deaths in the landslide on the island of Ischia.
The fire brigade said searches were underway for 13 people initially reported missing.
The fire brigade did not provide details on the number of missing people and mentioned difficulties in reaching the island with motorboats and helicopters due to bad weather.
