Russia's President Vladimir Putin and Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu attended a ceremony to open the International Army Games 2021 and International Military and Technical Forum in Kubinka, Moscow Region.
The Games will host participants from 43 countries and 290 teams. It included a ballet tank performance at the opening ceremony.
Vietnam, Mongolia, Syria and Venezuela national teams crew members took part in the individual races on the second day of the "Tank Biathlon" at the Alabino training ground near Moscow.
Each crew completed three laps with three rounds.
Tanks crew members demonstrated their ability to manoeuvre and overcome obstacles such as a ford vehicle, a mound, a track bridge and others. The Mongolian national team outdid other competing teams.
According to the Russian defence department, 19 national teams of the participating countries, divided into two divisions, are involved in the international tank championship, which runs from August 22 to September 4.
The first division includes teams from Russia, Uzbekistan, China, as well as the national teams of Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Serbia, Venezuela, Syria and Vietnam. The second division is represented by the national teams of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, as well as teams from Laos, Myanmar, Qatar and the national team of Mali.
