Large Ash Cloud Emerges from Cumbre Vieja Volcano in La Palma.

A large cloud of ash emerges from the main cone of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma in the Canaries, as captured by researchers from the Spanish Geological and Mining Institute.

Roughly 1,000 buildings have been destroyed since the eruption began on September 19 and 6,000 people have been evacuated.

The evacuations happened mostly from the towns of El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane, two of the main population centers in the island of 83,000 people.
