French and Romanian Forces Join for NATO Exercises
French and Romanian paratroopers took part in a joint parachuting exercise on August 4, 2022, as part of NATO's forward presence in its eastern flank.
The French unit joined Romania's 317th battle group for theoretical and practical exercises on the ground and concluded with jumps from Romanian Air Force planes.
About 150 soldiers participated in the joint exercises.
NATO members stepped up air policing missions and sent troops to countries on its eastern flank in response to Russia's military buildup along the borders with Ukraine, before it invaded on February 24.
