Donald Trump has commuted the sentence of his former adviser and political 'fixer' Roger Stone, just days before he was due to report to prison.
Stone, 67, was sentenced in February for lying to Congress, witness tampering and obstructing the House investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the election.
The White House confirmed the commuting of the sentence in a statement, saying Stone was a victim of the Russia 'hoax', much like coronavirus.
The President tweeted 'He was treated very unfairly, as were many others in this case. Roger Stone is now a free man!'
